Beginning April 1, 2026, if neither applicant is able to provide proof satisfactory to the County Clerk that they are a resident of the State of Texas, an additional $100 fee will be assessed at the time the marriage license is issued, in accordance with TX. Local Government Code §118.018(3)(d).
To establish Texas residency, at least one applicant must present acceptable proof of residency. Forms of acceptable proof include:
- Texas Driver’s License
- Texas State Identification Card
- Texas Handgun License
- Vehicle Registration
- Property Tax Statement or Homestead Exemption Documentation
- Voter Registration Card
- Military Orders reflecting Texas as Home of Record
- Income Tax Documentation
- Recent Paycheck Stub or Letter of Employment on Company Letterhead
- Receipt of Benefits from a Texas State Agency
- Utility Bills showing a 12-month history
Please note: PO Box addresses will not be accepted as proof of Texas residency.
If acceptable proof of Texas residency is not provided for at least one applicant, the additional $100 non-resident fee will apply.
