On June 26, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court, in Obergefell v. Hodges , declared that marriage equality is the law of the land. In the majority opinion, the Court said that “No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were. As some of the petitioners in these cases demonstrate, marriage embodies a love that may endure past death...(t)hey ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.” Obergefell v. Hodges, 574 U.S. ___ (2015).

On that very happy day, the Travis County Clerk’s Office issued 313 marriage licenses, and we wanted to share with you what marriage equality looks like.
